How witches’ North uses AI
Witches’ North does not use AI for art creation, creative writing, etc. I however do use it in some instances, where it saves me time and capacity, so that I can concentrate in what matters the most: the creation and connection… and it does help me to have some free time too. For transparency, I want to share with you how I use AI.
I believe, that the creative process is a major part of a meaningful human existence and very important for our well being as individuals and for the culture. This being said, my language of creation is Finnish, and I do use AI for translation. Read below how I use it in different occasions.
I think it would be silly, if I used some avatars to speak as me on video, or some AI voice. Or if I would share with you AI images of nature or the old spirits/gods/goddesses. I am trying to create nature connection and connection in general, so I believe that can’t be how I present my stuff.
I come from a digital marketing and data management background, where AI is the big buzz. I have experimented with different AI features in the past, including creating images, video and creative writing. I have decided not to use AI for those things for the reason mentioned above.
The tools in which I knowingly use AI are Claude, Canva, Inshot, Instagram, Hostinger, Google Services, and Instagram Edits. Because of data privacy issues, I am slowly moving away from Google’s tools into Proton.
I don’t use AI for creative writing or writing spells.
I don’t use AI for generating images or videos. I avoid using AI generated images and if you see me using something, that is by accident.
I don’t use generative AI as a source for folklore or mythology. I use books, folklore archives, courses I have attended, and articles. My goal is to share the source in every social media post, email and all course material, when relevant. I often also create suggestions for new practices, when there is no source.
I use background remove feature in Canva.
I sometimes use AI feature to recognize the beats in the music to help in editing the video in the pace with the music.
I use audio recognition tool of InShot/Instagram/Edits to subtitle my videos.

Translations and language check
I sometimes AI to check my English language. I use AI to translate spells that have been originally written in Finnish. I manually check each translation I make sure that the meanings transfer. Depending on the text and its purpose I sometimes also heavily edit the AI translation

Audio journeys / meditation
I write my idea and story for the meditation in Finnish and the AI tool translates it for me, formats it in meditation suitable phase and adds the “repetitive parts” I use for deepening the meditation, based on my instruction. I then review the result and rewrite parts of it. I read the mediation and edit it manually. I also record singing and some instruments for the background of the journeys (if I am not using background music our soundscapes from online libraries). I probably should use AI for audio editing, but I don’t for now.
I film my own videos and audio. I read my source materials and find the parts I want to use, and come up with modern applications on top of them.
When scripting the videos and making my slides, I sometimes speak to AI and have it summarize what I spoke. I then make my presentation based on that.
I sometimes ask AI to summarize articles or other material for me, but let’s be honest, that will leave out the interesting bits and I will have go through the materials anyway.
My goal is to write all my posts myself. I have used AI before to write part of my social media text, but I am moving more and more into writing myself. Because I always want to edit the gen AI heavily anyway.
I use generative AI to help me write product pages and other texts on my website. I often write my ideas and thoughts in Finnish to the tool, and then use it to translate and refine. I always review and edit the text to make sure it is what I want it to be.
I use AI tech assistant to solve technical issues on my website.
My accounting tool uses AI. I use AI to help me understand complex topics that I have now knowledge of, such as international taxation.

Newsletters and emails
I often write the story I want to have in the email in Finnish first, and then have AI tool to transform it in English. After this, I edit the text and make additions.
